Point of Contact

Clay Banks, Ōhau river

This, important place where one finds ground, makes contact with what is essential.

That place you know - deep in your heart is trustworthy and you can build your life upon it.

Contact means a felt aliveness with a place, a person, or a direct experience in yourself that continues to make itself known - is sounding at you or within you.

There may be a temptation to erect a monument to this place, to start something heroic now that you found it.

Instead, we let this point of connection deepen into us, perhaps in silence.

Retreat into silence.

That pregnant place of profound and often painful stillness - wherever we can find it within our busy lives:

Alongside the breakdowns, losses, and early terminations, go there and listen.

This is the place of making contact.

Where mountains heave and fall, where the trees sway and lean into you.

Where all creatures are being themselves, is where you need to be.

Where you are, just as you are.

Letting all that would stop you, become a beacon of light for your next step…

Back towards the only one who has ever loved you for just being you…

That still, quiet creature of your soul.
